Untitled Art CBD Sparkling Water

CBD is having its moment in the beverage world, with brands like Dram and Recess leading the trend of sparkling flavored water that contains CBD. Now, Untitled Art is joining the party with a line of CBD-infused seltzers that come in four mouthwatering flavors.

The Wisconsin-based brand isn’t actually a brewery; it’s the collaboration arm of Octopi Brewing, which contracts out its brewing capacity to other breweries.

Flavors

CBD is having its moment, and it’s popping up in all kinds of drinks. It’s also available as a balm, in gummies and as a tincture. But CBD sparkling water is perhaps the most logical new form for this popular ingredient, which is known to reduce stress and anxiety, promote sleep and ease pain. The untitled art cbd sparkling water is available in four mouthwatering flavors and contains 20mg of broad-spectrum hemp extract.

This Wisconsin-based brand is an offshoot of Octopi Brewing in Waunakee, which contracts out its brewing to other breweries around the country. The Badger State company uses wort, the liquid extracted from the mashing process during brewing, from a variety of breweries in Wisconsin and the Midwest. The brand’s founders are Levi Funk, the owner of the Funk Factory Geuzeria in Madison, and Isaac Showaki, the founder of Octopi Brewing.

The brand first experimented with a CBD-infused beer, but received a “tsk-tsk” from the FDA because CBD is not allowed in alcoholic beverages. But the brand will resume its alcoholic offerings when the FDA clears it, and for now, they’ve turned their attention to a line of CBD sparkling water.

The sparkling water comes in blackberry, strawberry, grapefruit and lemon lime. Each flavor is infused with natural fruit extracts to create powerful, refreshing flavors. They contain no sugar and are calorie-free, gluten-free and alcohol free. They retail for $15 per six-pack, and are soon launching 12-packs that will sell for $20-22.

Ingredients

Infused with broad-spectrum hemp oil, each can of untitled art cbd sparkling water contains 20 milligrams of CBD. Although CBD is an active component in cannabis, it doesn’t get you high and is known to ease anxiety, reduce pain, and promote sleep. The company’s sparkling water comes in four flavors: blackberry, strawberry, grapefruit, and lemon lime. Each variety uses natural extracts to provide powerful fruit flavors. The cans feature a unique design and color, with a backdrop that includes a fruit image to match the flavor.

Showaki says they started experimenting with CBD beer, but federal regulations make it illegal to combine CBD and alcohol. While they may resume CBD beer production in the future, they have shifted gears to create sparkling water infused with hemp and CBD. Their line of six-packs is available now, and retails for about $15 per pack. They plan to release 12-packs soon. The brand is a spinoff of the Octopi brewery, and is owned by the same team.

Packaging

Untitled Art Sparkling Water is available in six-packs and 12-packs, with a retail shelf price of $15-22. Each can contains 20mg of broad-spectrum hemp extract. The beverage is sugar-free and contains no artificial flavors or sweeteners. The cans are decorated with a colorful shrink-sleeve label, with fruit images that correspond to each flavor. Each can is sealed with a twist-top lid.

The company was founded by Levi Funk, founder of the Funk Factory Geuzeria in Madison, which sources wort (the liquid extracted during the brewing process) from breweries throughout Wisconsin and the Midwest, and Isaac Showaki, owner of Octopi Brewing in Waunakee, Wis. They launched their first CBD beer in spring 2019. However, they got a “tsk-tsk” from federal agencies for using CBD in alcoholic beverages, so they switched to sparkling water.

CBD is currently having its moment in the wellness community, as evidenced by the popularity of CBD gummies and tinctures. But it’s also starting to make its way into beverages like seltzer. Unlike alcoholic beverages, CBD sparkling water doesn’t contain THC, the psychoactive component of marijuana that gets you high. And it’s hydrating and refreshing, with a hint of the anecdotal anxiety relief that users report from CBD-infused gummies and tinctures.
